baby z bids 2010 adieu...
Baby Z had very little time to get to know 2010, but he's looking forward to 2011. He rings in the new year from La Bodequita del Medio in Palo Alto. Ok, it was actually only 10. By midnight all pictured were fast asleep!

Xmas with little Monkey Z, 2010
Baby Z; the Prince of Christmas
It was a peaceful little gathering, courtesy of Whole Foods. New Mamas don't like to stand around cooking much. Everything tasted yummy, perhaps because there was so much love in the house...
Having Zavier around made mama feel full and happy and vulnerable in an unprecedented way. She didn't really even want any presents. Baby Z got some cute little soft books from Gigi and Pop-pop.

And Baby Zavier emerged
Our first post from the hospital:
Baby X becomes Baby Z: Zavier Ayé
Zavier Ayé Grenot Blaser arrived Saturday morning, Dec 18, at 7:18am. He took his sweet time emerging and we've been pretty sleepy, but all is well; the pediatrician pronounced him a healthy little boy. Labor was humbling and beautiful. I am shocked and awed that women do this over and over again.
The boy weighs 8lbs 11oz, 21 inches long. His middle name, Ayé, (pronounced a-j'ai, like the French would say it) came to him because the day his labor began, Dec 17th at 12:30am, is the day of Babalú Ayé, 'lord of the earth, the Yoruba God of healing, who, syncretized with San Lazaro, removes suffering and disease from the earth.
He has lots of hair, lots of chub, a hypnotizing gaze, an odd little squeaking noise that he's fond of making, and miscellaneous magical powers. I am all a-swoon and super in love.
